Gandha Tail for Ligament injury
Gandha Tailam is a classical Ayurveda preparation described in the fracture management. It has wide application in all type of strains, sprains and ligament injuries. In non healing recurrent ligament injuries, a special samana or sodhana snehapana with Gandha tail will help to avoid surgeries. The ligament injuries are always nightmares for sports persons and if you are taking mild dose of Gandha tail, it will help to strengthen the bones, muscles and ligaments and avoid the chances of getting frequent injuries.
- In menisci injuries of Knee involving MCL injuries, Gandha tail along with Balaguloochyadi qwath (10: 1: 1) is a good choice to avoid surgeries.
- In ankle injuries involving anterior and posterior talofibular ligaments, Gandha tail along with Sahacharadi qwath and Dhanwantharam Avarthi is yielding good results.
- In multiple fractures, regular use of Gandha tail is hot milk will facilitate speedy perfect healing.

Preparation of Gandha Tail:
Take Sesame seeds and bundle it in a strong cotton piece and put it in flowing water for 7 nights, followed by dipping in Milk and Madhuka decoction for 7 days each and dry in sunlight every day. Powder the sesame seeds and add following medicines – Usheer, Valaka, Manjishta,Naguna, Sathahwa, Musta, Kottam, Urakam, Bala dwaya, Akil, Chandan, Kumkuma, Sariba, Sarala, Sarjaras, Devdaru, Padmkadi gana - 1/10th of Sesame seeds and extract the oil by adding the milk prepared with Kachura, valaka, Useer, Kottam and Chandan. To that oil add pastes of Vidari, Doorva, Shilajit, Rasna, Prisniparni, Musta, Tagar, Ila, Lodra and 4 times Milk and cook to make Gandha Tail.
Indications: Strengthen bones, heals fractures, correct ligament tears, all strong chronic diseases of Vat Pita predominance.
Dosage and mode of administration: Consult a qualified Ayurveda Physician for dosage.
Diet: Vegetarian diet with less spicy fat free food.
Exercise: moderate.
Sex: Not allowed.

Low back Pain- Ayurveda management
1) Treatment in Ayurveda is to bring the vitiated 'dosha' back to the state of equilibrium and thereby to the state of health. For treating low back pain, internal as well as external treatments are done.
2) Detoxification through taking castor oil three times per week for one month to get rid of excess apana.
3) Panchakarma treatments helps in relieving backache and correcting abnormalities in which organic oils and herbs are used. Herbal preparations like 'Asthavargam' are administered internally.Abhyanga Massage: A one hour full body Abhyange Massage using warm herbal organic oil.Enema: Herbal oil induced to lubricate the intestinal wall. Nourishing and pacifying to the body…Basti: Is a herbal enema…treats the entire length of the colon. Not only is feces flushed from the system but also ama (toxins) is removed from the tissues. Health and balanced colon function is restored as tissues and organs are rebuilt.Drugs like Yogarajaguggulu, Rumalaya forte, Stifain Tablet, Maharasnadi tablet ,Lakshadiguggulu, Triphala Guggulu, Mahanarayana tailam are useful in this condition.
4) Yoga postures that promote focus and strengthening without reproducting back pain. Start with simple back-bends, such as Locust, Cat, and Sunbird.To keep the spine aligned practice Hero Pose.
5) Strong even breathing emphasizing the inhale, especially into the areas of pain.
6) Aromatheraphy with basil, frangipani, henna or cinnamon
7) Grounding activity like gardening
8) The spine needs stability and, therefore, the mind should be relaxed and focus on the specific areas of back pain.
To achieve this the Mantra “I am safe and secure in the world. I have everything I need to thrive in the world” should be practiced. And with this practice, we can redirect the body's energy and reduce the pain.
